The Butterfly Ball                           

The 14th Annual Butterfly Ball®, a benefit for the Boost for Kids Foundation will take place on May 26, 2011 at the Four Seasons Toronto. The evening will be hosted by etalk Reporters Traci Melchor and Danielle McGimsie and promises to be a special evening. The night will include a sit down dinner, live auction and exciting entertainment. The Butterfly Ball provides an invaluable opportunity to connect with a widening circle of our community and thereby raise awareness about the enormous problem of child abuse.

Beloved for her outgoing and lively personaility Traci Melchor has been an icon on the Toronto entertainment scene for more than a decade. “I live for Tinseltown gossip and music,” says Melchor. Vibrant and witty, this Pickering native always puts a fresh spin on today’s hottest entertainment headlines. It comes from years of experience interviewing hundreds of stars, including Diddy, Denzel Washington, Mariah Carey, Madonna, John Travolta, Paris Hilton and Janet Jackson.

Before joining ETALK as an entertainment reporter in 2008, Melchor contributed to ETALKs “T’N’T Report” with Tanya Kim, covering the OSCARS®, SuperBowl and co-hosting one of the biggest events of 2007 – CTV’s coverage of LIVE EARTH from London’s Wembley Stadium.  Delivering daily entertainment news hits on CP24, Melchor was also named one of National Post’s Worthy 30 for her contribution to the television industry. Melchor also contributes regularly to CTV News Channel and CHUM FM.

Melchor kicked off her career as host of the legendary RAPCITY on MuchMusic, followed by a move to Citytv Toronto as the station’s Entertainment Specialist. From 2000-2005, Traci thrived in L.A.’s celebrity scene, guest starring on hit series CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGSTION and LIZZIE MCGUIRE, and reporting from countless red carpets as the Hollywood Correspondent for Star!.  Melchor also hosted weekly F.Y.E. – FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT, celebrity profiler EXTREME CLOSE UP, and STYLE VIP. A seasoned writer, Melchor has contributed entertainment stories to magazines such as Elle, Essence, and Source. During L’Oréal Fashion Week 2009, Melchor walked in the closing night show, Dare To Wear Love, in support of The Steven Lewis Foundation.

Melchor returned toCanada from Hollywood in 2005 to host MuchMoreMusic, a move that kept her in the celebrity spotlight and plugged into multi-platinum superstars like INXS, Sheryl Crow and Shakira. Melchor also spoke one-on-one with multi-award-winning music icon Madonna in NYC for the primetime TV special MADONNA: CONFESSIONS.

Off camera, the graduate of SenecaCollege’s Radio and Television Program spends most of her time with her twins Phoenix and Phoebe. "I love balancing being a mom and covering the business. From the hair salon, to fashion shows, to reading the latest kids book and driving the twins to karate and ballet class, my days are hectic. But I wouldn't have it any other way." A true renaissance woman, Melchor supports various charitable organizations and events including Covenant House, SickKidsHospital, and Fashion Cares.

 As a reporter for CTV’s ETALK, Danielle McGimsie’s role and charming personality has put her face to face with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, covering high-profile events both here at home and around the world. In recent years, McGimsie has interviewed the likes of Ben Affleck, James Franco, Orlando Bloom, Jude Law, Kim Catrall, Colin Farrell, Michael Cain, Robert Downy Jr., Sarah Ferguson, Jennifer Aniston, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hanks, Katie Holmes, Beyoncé Knowles, and the cast of the Twilight series while attending various junkets for ETALK.

McGimsie has made her mark on red carpets around the world including The Toronto International Film Festival® (TIFF), Sundance Film Festival, The Independent Spirit Awards, The Teen Choice Awards, and even Elton John’s annual post-Oscar® Bash. She has also covered Emmy® nomination day and reported live from post-Emmy bashes.

A jetsetter in her own right, Danielle has travelled to Rome to cover the Angels and Demons film premiere; Hawaii to interview the cast of Forgetting Sarah Marshall; London, England to interview the cast of the popular Harry Potter series, and even journeyed to Bora Bora to interview the cast of Couples Retreat including Vince Vaughn who was coincidentally on the same flight as her.

When in town, Danielle appears weekly on CP24 Breakfast to chat about entertainment news stories of the day.

McGimsie got her start in broadcasting in 2001 as an intern in the Citytv Toronto newsroom, before being hired on as a floor director for the weekend news. McGimsie hosted YTV’s weekly music countdown show The Hit List for four years before joining the Star! family in 2005, acting as an entertainment reporter for Star! Daily. McGimsie covered red carpet events for the next two years on the daily entertainment show and also appeared on A-Channel News at Six and A-Channel News at 11 giving viewers their daily dose of entertainment.

A highlight of her career was in 2005, when McGimsie interviewed and even danced with the infamous talk show host Ellen Degeneres on her daytime show and in front of a live studio audience. The segment was taped for Star! Daily and aired the same year. McGimsie also briefly hosted HypaSpace on SPACE Channel the same year.

Born and raised in
Guelph, Ontario, Danielle McGimsie graduated from SenecaCollege with a diploma in Radio and Television Broadcasting. When not tracking down the latest entertainment stories or hitting the hottest red carpet premieres and galas, McGimsie loves to kick back at home, cook, read, and entertain friends.
