BOOSTfest
BOOST launched this year’s Go Purple for Prevention campaign with an Awareness Breakfast on October 1st at the Platinum Club, Air Canada Centre with Teresa Kruze as our keynote speaker. Maureen Taylor from CBC was our Master of Ceremony. We are closing our campaign with BOOSTfest- arts & music festival. The festival will be another opportunity to promote child abuse prevention awareness. BOOST is also one of 710 organizations in 119 countries around the world participating in “November 19 – World’s Child Abuse Prevention’s Day”.We have garnered support from individuals, organizations, community agencies, schools and colleges in our appeal for support and they are organizing events throughout the whole of October in their respective communities. We have distributed 5,000 bookmarks, 15,000 buttons and 200 posters inviting all community members to participate in the Go Purple campaign in whatever way possible, including, but not limited to: choosing a day and wearing purple; holding a lunch or barbeque, creating a song or play. For the first time in the history of this campaign, we will be featuring our Go Purple theme song written by Wayne Andrews, a student from a local university.
This festival will showcase the artistic expression of children, youth and young people from Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. We are also having a toy drive for needy families and encouraging our guests to bring a stuffed animal or toy to this event. There will be light refreshments. Admission is free.
