The foundation of our program is based on the following key components:
- Respect, positive regard and a strength based approach to understanding the impact of the traumatic event(s) on children and youth.
- Children and youth referred to Boost will come with varied histories, experiences, unique family systems, cultural norms and expectations that will impact their understanding and the meaning they derive from their traumatic experience(s).
- It is common for traumatic event(s) to impact children and their families. In order to support the child and youth in a meaningful way, active parent/caregiver participation during the assessment and treatment is strongly encouraged.
- Boost is committed to becoming a centre of excellence in the field of trauma. Research is an important component of the program and assists us to continue to provide beneficial and meaningful services to children, youth and their families.
